- Rain Water Harvesting and Ground Water Workshop
The Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) hosted a Rainwater Harvesting 101 class on January 26, 2025, at their district office in Milano, Texas. Attendees learned the fundamentals of rainwater collection and system design, explored practical uses for harvested rainwater, and toured the District’s wet and dry rainwater harvesting demonstrations. The free workshop also fulfilled one of the eligibility requirements for POSGCD’s Rainwater Harvesting Rebate Program, helping participants take the next step toward water conservation at home.
- Lonestar Healthy Streams
A Lone Star Healthy Streams workshop, was held on February 20th, 2025 in Cameron Texas. This program helps Texas landowners and livestock producers protect water quality through voluntary best management practices. Led by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board, the program offers workshops and resources on grazing management, feral hog control, and stream stewardship to keep Texas waterways clean and healthy
- Urban Riparian Symposium
The 2025 Urban Riparian Symposium was held February 19–21 in Waco, Texas, bringing together researchers, practitioners, and agency professionals to explore innovative approaches to managing riparian corridors in urban environments. Co-hosted by the Texas Water Resources Institute and the Texas Riparian Association, the symposium centered on the theme “Bridging Nature and the City.” Participants shared insights on green stormwater infrastructure, stream restoration, floodplain planning, and nutrient management in developed landscapes. Through technical sessions, panel discussions, poster presentations, and field tours, the event fostered collaboration among professionals dedicated to protecting and restoring urban waterways across Texas and beyond.

- Post Oak Savannah Annual Ground Water Symposium
The Annual Groundwater Summit was held on August 7th, 2025. This summit brings together landowners, water professionals, and policymakers to discuss the future of groundwater in the Post Oak Savannah region. Hosted by POSGCD, the event features expert presentations on aquifer conditions, conservation programs, groundwater rights, and regional water planning — offering practical insights for everyone who depends on this vital resource.

- Texas Agricultural Industry Presentation
The Texas Ag Industries Association (TAIA) Salado Regional Meeting was held on October 7, 2025, at the USDA Grassland Soil & Water Research Center near Temple, Texas. The event brought together agricultural professionals for a full day of education, networking, and regulatory updates, offering 8 CCA and 5 TDA CEUs. Highlights included sessions on biologicals, fertilizer management, pest control, and water quality, featuring a presentation from the Texas Water Resources Institute (TWRI) on water quality issues and studies in the Blacklands. The meeting also included a pesticide chemistry panel with experts from BASF, Bayer, Corteva, FMC, and Valent, and concluded with a federal regulation update from the Texas Department of Agriculture—reinforcing TAIA’s commitment to advancing innovation and collaboration in Texas agriculture
- Texas Watershed Stewards, Cameron Texas
A Texas Watershed Steward Workshop was held on October 20th, 2025. This program focused on Big Elm Creek and nearby watersheds—including Deer Creek, Pond Creek, Middle Yegua Creek, and Brushy Creek—was held on October 20 in Cameron. The free event took place at Founders Hall at The Yards of Cameron and was presented by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board, in cooperation with the Texas Water Resources Institute (TWRI)
Participants learned about watershed systems, sources of water pollution, and community-driven approaches to watershed protection and management. The workshop emphasized improving water quality through local engagement and best management practices. Attendees received a copy of the Texas Watershed Steward Handbook, earned continuing education credits across multiple disciplines, and were encouraged to get involved in protecting and maintaining regional water resources. Funding for the program was provided through a federal Clean Water Act Section 319(h) Nonpoint Source Grant administered by the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

- Falls County Blackland Row Crop Tour
The Falls County Blackland Row Crop Tour was held on June 17, 2024, in Westphalia, Texas, bringing together local producers and agricultural professionals for a morning of field demonstrations, research updates, and networking. The tour began at 7 a.m. with a visit to a corn plot owned by Gary and David Herzog at the intersection of CR 383 and CR 379, followed by a stop at a sorghum test plot managed by Larry Hoelscher. Participants then gathered at the Westphalia Cafeteria for lunch and presentations. Capital Farm Credit provided breakfast, and speakers included Dr. Jason Johnson, who offered a market outlook; Jake Mowrer, who discussed agronomics and nitrogen management; Tyler Mays, who gave an IPM update; and Brandi Kelm, who shared insights from American Plant Food Co. and the Texas Department of Agriculture. The event successfully combined research-based learning with community engagement to support continued progress in local crop production.
- Stiles Farm Field Day
The Stiles Farm Field Day was held on June 21st, 2024 in Thrall, Texas. This event brought together producers, researchers, and families for an afternoon of agricultural learning and community engagement. Sponsored by the Stiles Farm Foundation and supported by the Williamson County Farm Bureau, the event featured demonstrations on autonomous tractor technology, rural water resource management, and crop production led by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension experts.

The Texas Watershed Steward Program was held on Febraury 7th, 2023 in Temple Texas. This program is a free educational workshop that helps Texans learn how to protect and improve water quality in their local watersheds. Led by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board, the program covers watershed processes, pollution prevention, and community-based solutions for healthier rivers, lakes, and streams.

- Texas Urban Riparian Workshop
The Texas Urban Riparian and Stream Restoration Program was held on April 25th, 2023 in Temple Texas. This program trains professionals to protect and restore degraded urban streams. Led by the Texas Water Resources Institute and partners, the workshops cover stream processes, riparian function, and practical restoration techniques that promote healthier waterways and more resilient urban landscapes.

The Texas Well Owner Network workshop was held on July 18th, 2023. This program helps private well owners learn how to protect and maintain their water supplies. Through free workshops and water-testing events, the program—led by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and partners—teaches best practices for well maintenance, water quality testing, and groundwater protection. TWON empowers Texans to safeguard their wells and the aquifers that sustain their communities.

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension’s Homeowner Septic System Maintenance Course was held on February 22nd, 2022. This program taught residents how to properly operate and care for their aerobic or conventional septic systems. Through online or in-person training, participants learned maintenance basics, safety practices, and how to keep systems running efficiently—protecting both home and groundwater quality.

- Healthy Lawns Healthy Waters
The Healthy Lawns and Healthy Waters (HLHW) Program was held on April 5th, 2022. This workshop helped Texas residents protect local water resources through science-based lawn care and landscape practices. Hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas Water Resources Institute, the program offers free workshops that teach participants how to interpret soil test results, apply fertilizers responsibly, and design efficient rainwater harvesting systems. Each session provides practical guidance for creating healthy, sustainable lawns while reducing runoff and improving water quality in Texas communities.

The event offered vendor booths, presentations, and continuing education credits.
